This summer, kick off your shoes and go barefoot as much as possible.
Grounding is a concept that helps us feel more connected to the earth while potentially improving our overall well-being and raising our vibration.
A large majority of us are living modern lives which keeps us from having the kind of relationship with the earth that we used to have. But grounding (also called earthing) can actually reconnect us with the earth and bring us back to a balanced state. In fact, research is continuously showing that grounding has a positive effect on our health.
And it’s so easy. All you have to do is make direct contact with the earth’s surface, usually done with the feet but you can also sit or lay on the ground if you prefer.
So how does it work? Our bodies make their own electricity (something something protons… something something electrons… science science science). However, modern technology, along with pollutants, is messing around with our natural electricity which can cause free radicals (which can be toxic and cause a whole lotta problems) to build up in our bodies. Grounding can bring our natural electricity or energy back to where it’s supposed to be.
What are the benefits? Deeper sleep, healthier bones, heart health, improved mood and quicker immune response, to name a few.
So, whenever you get the chance, go outside and do something that requires you to make direct contact with the earth. It doesn’t have to be for long but you may love the feeling so much that you find yourself doing it more and more, and for longer periods of time.
