How to Develop & Deepen Your Spiritual Practice
Living a more spiritual lifestyle can be beneficial for multiple reasons. Not only is having a healthy spiritual practice good for your overall health, it can also help decrease stress, increase your happiness, calm your mind, help you sleep better, give you more energy and help you find and develop your purpose.
But where do you begin? How do you know if you’re already on a spiritual path? And how do you keep developing it? Here are a few simple tips on how to develop and nourish a spiritual lifestyle.
1. STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE
We are creatures of habit. We love to continue doing what feels familiar and safe. But sometimes we have to step out of our comfort zones in order to grow and achieve our goals. What direction should this “stepping out” take? Listen to your heart, your soul, or your intuition. Are there things you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t yet? What are you drawn to? Start small and then keep going!
2. ALIGN WITH OTHER LIKE-MINDED INDIVIDUALS
Your spiritual journey will be much easier if you link up with others who are also on this same path. When you get to speak to like-minded people, sit with them, share with them, you will be immersed in this world that will propel you towards achieving your goals and finding your purpose. If you align with others who are also just beginning their spiritual journey, you’ll be able to experience the magic together. If you align with others who find themselves at different stages, you’ll be able to learn from those who may have been exploring for a longer period of time.
3. TREAT YOUR BODY RIGHT
How can we expect to grow spiritually if our bodies are suffering? It’s so important to treat our physical bodies with love and respect for so many reasons, but even more so if you want to keep going down a spiritual path. How does one treat their body right? Two important aspects are movement and nutrition. Moving your body, regardless of how that will look for you, is crucial each and every day. For some, it’s a regular workout routine. For others, it’s a daily yoga practice. For some, it’s a walk through the woods with their dog. For others still, it’s simply stretching and moving your limbs every few hours.
4. SPEND TIME ALONE
Spending time with yourself is definitely something that not everyone is comfortable with. We live in groups and societies and we depend on others for so much. However, we should all be working on finding comfort in being alone and we should absolutely be able to develop autonomy. I genuinely love just spending time with myself. I’ll meditate, read, listen to podcasts, write, make delicious meals, travel… all without the help of others because these are all things I am capable of doing alone. When you spend enough time with yourself, you grow to genuinely know yourself and, hopefully, you ultimately grow to love yourself unconditionally which is a really huge deal in the spiritual world.
5. DEVELOP DAILY ROUTINES & RITUALS
I know, I know; I’m always preaching about routines. But I wouldn’t talk about them so much if I didn’t genuinely believe in the benefits they hold. Morning routines, evening routines, lunar & sabbat rituals… they are all done for different reasons and yet they can all help you develop a spiritual practice. The easiest one you could probably implement if you’re a beginner is a High Vibe Morning Routine. (And I’ve already done all the planning for you in this ebook!)
